“The floor is lava!” Said every kid before iPads.

I’m not necessarily proud to admit this but every time we do anything lava-related in class, the file in my brain labeled 1995 opens up and I hear Shaggy in my head singing “Mista Lova Lova”. It’s true. I think 12 year old me believed Shaggy was some kind of scientist. What else could Mr. Lava Lava be? I mean, BOOM- bastic? Oh blessed innocence.

Thank you TikTok, for not existing during my prepubescent years.

Anyway.

For this STEM activity, I set up experiment stations and provided my preschoolers with lava powder (baking soda), lava juice (dyed vinegar), safety goggles (because science), droppers and test tubes (because professionals).

Droppers - Amazon

Test Tubes - Amazon

Safety Goggles - Amazon

Clear Containers - Amazon

Child Volcanologists - Amazon

Baking Soda and Vinegar - Amaz…... jk. I got these ingredients at Costco.

“Look I made it interrupt!” - Preschooler whose Kindergarten teacher can correct her next year because no way I’m going to clarify such a cute vocabulary mix up.
